ADA, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers and Ohio Northern Polar Bears needed 110 minutes on the pitch, but even two extra 10-minute sessions were not enough to settle things in a 2-2 tie.

Wittenberg is now 3-3-1 overall, while Ohio Northern is 3-4-1. It was the second-to-last non-conference game of the 2014 season for the Tigers, who will open North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play at Oberlin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

Ohio Northern jumped on top in the 22nd minute, and that lead held up through halftime. Over the first 30 minutes of the second half, however, Wittenberg held the upper hand, thanks to goals by sophomore Michelle Brunswick (Middletown, Ohio/Madison) and junior Zoe Curry (Milford, Ohio/Ursuline). Assists were credited to senior Chelsey Marcum (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) on the first goal and the tandem of junior Kate Burns (Granger, Ind./Penn) and freshman Rachel Billman (Newark, Ohio/Newark) on the second after a pair of headers set up the final strike.

The Polar Bears rallied to force overtime in the closing minutes. The equalizer came in the 86th minute off a corner kick.

Ohio Northern led the final shots count at 21-14, while Wittenberg held a narrow 8-6 advantage on corner kicks. Both teams were credited with six saves in the game.
