SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers recorded their second shutout in the last three games after limiting visiting Heidelberg to four shots on goal in a 1-0 non-conference victory.

The win evened the Tigers' record at 2-2. Heidelberg fell to 0-3-1 in the early going of the 2014 season.

After allowing six goals in the first 64 minutes of the 2014-15 season, the Tigers have been nearly flawless defensively. Since losing to Thomas More 6-1 in the opener, Wittenberg has allowed one goal in three games, including a pair of shutouts over Ohio Athletic Conference rivals Wilmington and Heidelberg.

Against the Student Princes, Wittenberg got all the offense it would need in the 30th minute as junior Zoe Curry (Milford, Ohio/Ursuline) found the back of the net with a penalty kick at the 29:42 mark.

Curry's successful strike was one of 20 total shots taken by the Tigers, and one of 11 that went on frame. Freshman Nicole Karavakis (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Pickerington Central) and junior Kate Burns (Granger, Ind./Penn) led the way with five shots apiece.

At the other end, the Tiger defense was stellar, allowing just six Heidelberg shots. Freshman goalkeeper Alexa Murrietta (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge) was credited with four saves in recording her first solo collegiate shutout.
