TIFFIN, Ohio - It took more than 53 minutes, but the Wittenberg Tigers finally broke through, scoring two goals in a span of 14 minutes to secure a 2-0 non-conference victory over host Heidelberg.

The win evened the Tigers' record at 4-4-2, heading into Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opener against Oberlin. The Student Princes fell to 1-6-1.

Wittenberg held a commanding 17-1 advantage in shots in the game, including a margin of 10-0 over the final 45 minutes. At the other end, freshman Kelsey Lorko (Fairview Park, Ohio/Fairview) made one save in the first half before sophomore Maggie Grieser (St. Paris, Ohio/Graham) picked up the victory with a second half without a save.

A trio of Tigers finished with three shots each: junior Tobie Weston (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington Christian), senior Kayla Murphy (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins) and sophomore Kaylee Gialamas (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken). Weston cashed in on her break on goal at the 53:43 mark to break the scoreless tie, while Murphy capped the scoring in the 68th minute with an unassisted tally.

Murphy assisted on Weston's goal, moving her season point total to seven in seven games, including five starting assignments.
