SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's soccer continued to search in vain for an offensive spark in a 1-0 loss to visiting Thomas More.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-3-1 on the young season, which is still just 10 days old. Thomas More is off to a 3-0 start to the 2013 season.

For the second straight day, the Tigers fell behind in the early going. Unlike the road trip to Hanover on Saturday, however, a rally was not forthcoming, despite 10 Wittenberg shots, including six on frame. Thomas More finished with 11 shots in the game, with a 20th-minute strike from Laura Felix being the difference-maker.

Eight different Wittenberg players took at least one shot in the game, with juniors Chelsey Marcum (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) and Tobie Weston (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Christian) leading the way with two apiece. At the other end of the field, freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Lorko (Fairview Park, Ohio/Fairview) went the distance between the pipes, making seven saves along the way.

A four-game homestand continues on Wednesday, Sept. 11, with a 7 p.m. contest against perennial powerhouse Ohio Northern.
