BALTIMORE, Md. – A day after opening the 2013 season with a 1-0 victory, the Tigers had the tables turned on them by Averett in the final game of the Johns Hopkins Invitational.

The Tigers allowed a goal just 1:39 into the game, and that's all that Averett would need. Both teams ended the weekend with 1-1 records, with the Tigers now head home to play five of their next six games in the friendly confines of Wittenberg's Edwards-Maurer Field.

Playing for a second straight day without seniors Kayla Murphy (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins) and Katie Murphey (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview), Wittenberg generated eight shots on goal, compared to 14 for Averett, which also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Sophomore Kate Burns (Granger, Ind./Penn), sophomore Mackenzie Bolon (Columbus, Ohio/Bexley) and freshman Kyrie Bumpus (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-Valley) each took two shots, while junior Tobie Weston (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington Christian) and freshman Mackenzie Fisler (Batavia, Ohio/Batavia) were credited with one attempt apiece.

In goal, freshman Kelsey Lorko (Fairview Park, Ohio/Fairview) was solid, making seven saves while going the distance on a hot, humid afternoon.
