CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's soccer team went toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the Great Lakes Region and emerged with a 0-0 tie against Case Western Reserve, ranked 24th nationally.

While there were no goals on the board at the end of 110 minutes of soccer, there was no shortage of scoring opportunities. Case Western tallied 21 shots, with six directed on the Wittenberg goal, while the Tigers were credited with 15 shots, including nine on frame.

Wittenberg senior goalkeeper Cassie Lythjohan (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) finished the game with six saves. Her stellar play backed fine work from a host of Tiger defensive backs, in addition to the midfield play of senior Kailey Striebel (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont).

Senior Amy Cook (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) led the Tigers with four shots, while freshman Zoe Curry (Milford, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) finished with three.

The Tigers moved to 1-2-2 on the season, while Case Western is now 3-1-2. Wittenberg returns to action at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, when the Tigers host Earlham in their final non-conference tune-up before the start of North Coast Athletic Conference action.
