SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers rounded out a rollercoaster 2011 season with a disappointing loss to visiting Wooster by a 1-0 score.

The loss was Wittenberg's fourth straight and dropped the Tigers to 8-9-1 overall and 3-5-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The victory pushed the Scots into one of the four spots in next week's NCAC Tournament.

The two teams battled to a scoreless draw through halftime, but Wooster's Kelsey Peters emerged with a loose ball in the Wittenberg penalty area and slotted home the game-winning goal in the 71st minute. It was the second straight year that Wooster beat Wittenberg in the season finale.

Wooster held a 9-8 edge in shots and a 5-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities. The Tigers were paced offensively by juniors Kailey Striebel (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) and Lauren E. McMahon (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline) with two shots apiece.

Junior goalkeeper Cassie Lythjohan (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) was credited with three saves.
