SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg women's soccer team moved back above .500 at 6-5-1 overall with a 1-0 win over visiting Urbana University Tuesday night at Edwards-Maurer Field.

Wittenberg junior scoring leader Kailey Striebel (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) found the net for the game winner in the 30th minute off an assist from junior Lauren McMahon (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline). The Blue Knights, a newly-minted NCAA Division II program, faced 14 Wittenberg shots while taking only five.

Striebel, who now has seven goals on the season, attempted a game-high four shots and put three on goal, including the game's lone score.

Junior Amy Cook (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and sophomore Katie Murhpey (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) each took two shots, and six more Tigers each took one shot.

The Urbana offense was held in check by a tough Wittenberg defense, including the starting backfield of senior Lauren McMahon (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), junior Kelly Brothers (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome), junior Lauren McMahon (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline) and senior Meredith Kirby (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North).

The Tigers resume their North Coast Athletic Conference campaign, currently sitting at 1-1-0, in a road tilt at Hiram on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m.
