RICHMOND, Ind. — The Wittenberg Tigers were unable to make a first-half lead stand up, settling for a 1-1 tie at Earlham.

The Tigers now stand 4-3-1 overall as they enter North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action with a home game against Allegheny at noon Sunday, Sept. 25. After the tie with former NCAC rival Wittenberg, the Quakers are now 2-3-1 on the season as they head into Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

The game's other statistics were just as even as the final score. Wittenberg recorded 25 shots to 20 for Earlham and attempted 10 corner kicks to the Quakers' seven. Tiger junior goalkeeper Cassie Lythjohan (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) made 11 saves in the game, compared to 12 for her Earlham counterpart.

Wittenberg jumped on top on an unassisted goal by freshman Cassie Howell (Batavia, Ohio/Glen Este) in the 34th minute. But Earlham found the equalizer at the 54-minute mark. The game remained deadlocked through two overtime periods.

Howell scored on her lone shot in the game. Junior Kailey Striebel (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) led both teams with nine shots, including five on goal. Senior Lauren McMahon (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) added three shots, including two on goal, while senior Taylor Goss (Sandy Spring, Md./Friends School) put both of her attempts on frame.
