    Wittenberg University women's soccer standouts Suzanne Medwid, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, Jamie Mack, class of 2009 from Rochester, NY, Corey Shubitowski, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, and Emily Murray, class of 2010 from Petoskey, Mich., and men's soccer standouts Jay Knox, class of 2009 from Hilliard, Ohio, and Michael Condon, class of 2010 from Powell, Ohio, have earned Academic All-Ohio honors from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association.

    In search of another deep run into the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Wittenberg women's soccer team saw their season cut short with a 4-0 loss to the University of Chicago in a match played at Calvin College. The Maroons from the UAA turned in a pair of goals in each stanza to pull away and advance to the second round to take on the host Calvin Knights.

    After a pair of scoreless matches in the span of 10 days, the Wittenberg Tigers and Allegheny Gators ultimately determined a winner in a penalty-kick shootout, with the homestanding Tigers prevailing, 4-2, and advancing to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament title game. Sophomore Maureen Buckley (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) sealed the win with a shot into the upper right corner of the net in round four of the shootout.

The Tigers had taken the last three meetings between the two sides, dating back to 2006, but it was the Big Red who captured a 2008 NCAC regular season crown with the win.

    WOOSTER, Ohio — Looking to avoid falling to 0-2 in conference play, the Tiger women broke a 2-2 tie in the 77th minute, then held on to beat Wooster on the road by a 3-2 final. It was a pair of freshmen who provided the heroics for the Tigers as Megan Utter (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) punched in a Sheryl Chambers (Victorville, Calif./St. Joan of Arc) cross to give the Tigers the game winner.

    In a contest that had all the makings of another classic between the Wittenberg Tigers and the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops, it was the visitors who had the final say when they scored seven minutes into overtime to claim a 2-1 victory. A breakaway goal by Makinzie Krebsbach sealed the win for the Bishops in both teams' NCAC opener.

    SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — A 30-yard strike off the foot of Rachel Radel (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) gave the Tigers the lead for good as they held off tough regional foe Transylvania for a 2-1 victory in non-conference action at Edwards-Maurer Field. A stellar pass back from Emily Murray (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) set up a free run from Radel, who put the game-winner just underneath the crossbar early in the second half.

    GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Wittenberg Tigers have played four games in the 2008 season and they have yet to give up a goal. Until Saturday, the Tigers also had done nothing but win games before finishing in a 0-0 tie with 12th-ranked Emory in a game played at DePauw.

Junior forward Emily Murray (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) opened up the scoring for the Tigers in the fifth minute, redirecting a shot by junior Rachael Radel (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) past the Olivet keeper.
