Tigers Bounce Back To Gain Split At Gettysburg College Players Cup

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - After a sluggish Saturday, the Tiger defense roared back to life on Sunday to close the Gettysburg College Players Cup with a win over Ithaca. Junior Jamie Mack (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) made a trip downfield to score the game-winning goal off an assist from junior Suzanne Medwid (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) midway through the first period.

With a goal on the board, the Tiger defense took over and held on to the shutout through the remainder of the first period and all the way through the second to secure the victory. Allowing just six shots, the defense left senior goalkeeper Meghan O'Rourke (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) with little to do, as she was forced into saving just two shots on goal.

The lone goal for the Tigers came in the 28th minute, where on a free kick from Medwid, Mack deflected the ball into the net from the right side.

Sunday's action moved the Wittenberg women back to .500 at 1-1-0 overall after a Saturday loss to William Smith. They come home to Springfield on Wednesday to host Capital at 7:00 p.m.
