Wittenberg Drops 2-1 Decision At DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The challenging early-season schedule left the heralded Wittenberg Tigers with another welt on Saturday after a 2-1 loss at perennial powerhouse DePauw.

The DePauw Tigers remained perfect at 3-0 on the young season while the Wittenberg Tigers lost by one goal for a second consecutive game to slip to 1-2. Wittenberg must put the game in the rearview mirror right away, however, to prepare for another road test Sunday at Rose-Hulman.

The two teams combined for just 12 shots in the game, with three of them finding the back of the net. DePauw struck once in each half, while Wittenberg could only muster a goal in the 75th minute by junior Lisa Rusch (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) off a feed from freshman Emily Murray (Petosky, Mich./Petosky).

Wittenberg junior netminder Meghan O'Rourke (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) made four saves in the game to match the total of DePauw's keeper. The difference was that DePauw had two more total shots.
