Tigers Rally For 1-1 Tie At Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio - It wasn't the result the Wittenberg Tigers most wanted after a long Saturday road trip to Wooster, but Head Coach Norm Riker and his team will certainly take it. The Tigers remained unbeaten in the North Coast Athletic Conference by rallying to tie Wooster 1-1.

The Tigers are now 8-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the NCAC, heading into perhaps the biggest game of the 2006 season to date - a Wednesday contest with top-10 ranked Denison on the Big Red's home pitch. Wooster is now 9-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the NCAC.

Wittenberg got the best of things in terms of shots and corner kick opportunities, accumulating 15 shots to 10 for Wooster and four corner kicks to just one for the Scots. However, Wooster picked up seven saves in the game, including a key one in the second overtime session, compared to three for Tiger junior Meghan O'Rourke (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne).

Wooster found the scoreboard first in the 62nd minute of the game, but Wittenberg answered right back on a tally by junior Amanda Farrell (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) just three minutes later, which was assisted by junior Sydney Bates (Loveland, Ohio/Milford). Junior Melissa Ketterman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) provided a lift off the bench as she was involved in the play on the Wittenberg goal, one of several performances in the second half that were crucial against the talented Scots.
