Wittenberg Crushes Washington & Jefferson, 3-0

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Wittenberg ran its record to 8-0 overall and notched its seventh consecutive shutout victory as the Tigers cruised past host Washington & Jefferson, 3-0, in nonconference women's soccer action on Friday evening at Alexandre Stadium.

The Tigers, ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region and knocking on the door of the top 25 for the first time in a decade, started the scoring in the 19th minute as sophomore forward Amanda Farrell redirected home a pass from sophomore forward Lisa Rusch.

Wittenberg held the one-goal advantage until the 72nd minute when freshman midfielder Lauren Johnson gave the Tigers an insurance goal, her first of the 2005 season. Freshman defender Kristy Parker added a goal in the 76th minute to round out the scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan O'Rourke turned back two shots in 79 minutes to earn the win. The Tigers outshot the Presidents by a 19-3 margin.

The road trip concludes Saturday with a game at Westminster at 4 p.m.
