ADA, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers are finding a way to get things done, and they may have taken their biggest step forward yet on Sunday with a 1-1 tie with perennial powerhouse Otterbein in the championship game of the Ohio Northern Invitational. By virtue of tiebreaker criteria, Wittenberg was awarded the tournament title.

Freshman Amy Meige scored a goal in the game's 56th minute to force the tie, the kind of comeback that has been absent much of the last two years. All five goals scored by Wittenberg in the season's first three games have been credited to freshmen, the sign of a youth movement that is beginning to pay dividends. The assist went to freshman Amanda Farrell.

In goal, another freshman, Meghan O'Rourke, was again solid, turning away three shots but fielding 19 total from the Cardinals. Wittenberg managed just four shots. In corner kicks, the difference was just as significant, with Otterbein holding an 8-1 advantage.

The Tournament MVP trophy was awarded to Meige for her outstanding performance, while O'Rourke garnered defensive MVP honors.

The Tigers take on their fourth straight Ohio Athletic Conference opponent on Tuesday when Capital comes calling for a 4:30 p.m. start at Bill Edwards Field.
