Wittenberg Defeats Capital to Remain Unbeaten

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Tigers continued their great start to the 2004 season and remained undefeated with a 1-0 home victory over Capital. The Tigers improved to 3-0-1 on the season.

Wittenberg's lone goal came in the 37th minute of the first half when sophomore Megan Hauser finished a corner kick to give them the lead. The Tiger offense kept putting pressure on Capital by taking 25 shots, compared to eight by the Crusaders.

The Tiger defense also stepped it up to record their second shutout of the season, led by goalie Meghan O'Rourke. The Defensive MVP of the ONU Classic last weekend, O'Rourke was solid again on Tuesday with six saves.

The Tigers played their fourth straight Ohio Athletic Conference opponent to open the season, and Wittenberg remains nearly perfect against the always deep, tough conference. The Tigers are on the road next on September 11 against Rose-Hulman at 1 pm (CST).
