SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team defeated Spalding 17-0 on Thursday evening, marking the Tigers' first shutout since 2013.

• Senior Jessica Flick (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) led the Wittenberg offense with five goals for her fifth hat trick of the season.
• Sophomore Anna Roller (New Albany, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) added four goals and three ground balls.
• Junior Grace Hehman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) recorded a hat trick with three goals and added one assist for four points.
• Freshman Essence Wyse (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) tallied three points on two goals and one assist to go with three ground balls.
• Freshman Aubrey Stager (Saline, Mich./Saline) posted two goals and one assist for three points.

• Freshman Ebony Wyse (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) finished with a team-best six caused turnovers.
• Sophomore Alyssa Burnside (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) tallied one assist.
• Junior Gabrielle Weckerly (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) earned the win in goal, improving to 4-1 on the season. She got the start in goal and recorded two saves. Junior Sidney Sheridan (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) played the second quarter and made one save. Freshman Jorja Williams (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) played the entire second half and posted four saves in preserving the shutout.

The Game

• Roller got the scoring started with back-to-back goals followed by a score from Hehman for a 3-0 Tiger lead with 9:42 left in the first quarter.
• Two straight goals from Flick and another from Hehman sent Wittenberg into the second quarter with a 6-0 lead.
• Roller and Essence Wyse scored two goals apiece in the second quarter to go with one from Flick to give the Tigers an 11-0 halftime edge.
• Flick and Hehman scored one goal each in the third quarter, increasing the Wittenberg lead to 13-0 going into the fourth.
• A pair of Stager goals bookended scores from Flick and Krasnow over the final 15 minutes.
• Wittenberg out-shot Spalding by a 31-9 margin and won 12 of the 19 draw controls.
• The Tigers forced 23 Spalding turnovers and finished with a 29-27 edge in ground balls.

Records & Milestones

• The last time the Tigers shut out an opponent was in a 19-0 win at Hiram on April 13, 2013.
• This marked the first all-time meeting between Wittenberg and Spalding.
• Flick has 129 career points on 113 goals and 16 assists. She is seven goals and 23 points shy of entering the program's all-time top 10 list in those categories. She has a team-high 29 points and 27 goals this season.
• Roller has 19 goals and a team-high seven assists for 26 points this season. She has 42 career points on 34 goals and eight assists.
• Sheridan has 245 career saves, which is six shy of joining the program's all-time top 10 list in that category. Weckerly has 171 career saves.
