Wittenberg Returns To Edwards-Maurer With Win Over The Student Princesses

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg returned from spring break to take on the Student Princesses of Heidelberg in their fifth home game of the 2022 season. After facing two losses on spring break, Wittenberg looked to pick up a win back home. After a close first quarter, Wittenberg pulled away for a 21-8 win.

First quarter goals were scored by Gabby Stern, Mya Wolfe (2), and Jessica Flick all unassisted for a 4-3 lead heading into the second. Flick quickly picked up a hat trick in the second quarter of play, going back-to-back. Wittenberg put up three more unanswered goals from Grace Hehman assisted by Mya Wolfe, Hannah Feder on a free position shot, and Cecilia Critchfield unassisted. Flick Tallied one more goal to end the second quarter with a 10-5 lead heading into the half.

Starting off the third quarter was Critchfield with her second goal of the day from Hannah Feder. Feder came back and picked up a goal of her own right after to give the Tigers a 12-5 lead. Also scoring in the third quarter were Grace Kennedy (2), Grace Hehman, Jessica Flick (2), and Mya Wolfe. Four of the Tigers goals came from free position shots in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 18-7 score heading into the final quarter of play. Wittenberg tallied three more goals in the fourth quarter from Wolfe, Feder, and Gabby Stern assisted by Hehman for the Red & White to take a 21-8 win over Heidelberg.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers had eight different individuals score, being led by Jessica Flick with five goals, followed by Mya Wolfe with four. Gabby Stern led the Red & White defensively with five ground balls on the day. Zoe Chirumbolo McKee led in draw controls with ten of the 20 that the Tigers picked up. Splitting time in goal were Gabrielle Weckerly, Joanna Stecz, and Sidney Sheridan. Weckerly led the Tigers with five saves after facing 10 shots on goal.
