Tigers Freeze Up Against Knights

Springfield, OH- The Tigers met the Knights of Calvin College for their last home game before heading south for Spring Break. The 1-3 Wittenberg team faced an untouched Calvin team who had their first game of the season in cold conditions. The Tigers struggled to keep up with the Knights and fell with a 15-6 score, heading into the break with a 1-4 record.

Game Breakdown: Tigers were able to put points on the board first with a free position goal from Libby Wadds at 27:31. Wittenberg wasn't able to get back on the board until the fourteen minute mark with another free position goal from Wadds, to lessen the Knights lead to 3. Wittenberg would get one more past Calvin's goalie with a goal from Faith Meads off of an assist from Katurah Emery. Tigers went into the half down with a 9-3 score and looked to warm up their sticks in the second half.

Senior, Rachel Bernard tabbed two back-to-back goals in the first few minutes of the second half to bring the score to 9-5 but Calvin was able to go on a run and extend the lead to 15-5. Meads got the last goal of the game to give Wittenberg their sixth point from a free position shot.  

Key Players: The Tigers had a trio each score two goals from Wadds, Bernard, and Meads.

Up Next: The Tigers will be heading down to Texas for Spring Break where they will compete against St. Mary's at 4 PM CST on March 10th, followed by South Western the 11th at 7 PM CST.
