Tigers Fall To Wooster In NCAC Battle

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought game to the Scots from the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon, 20-10. After the Tigers posted the first goal of the game the Scots responded by capturing the lead without looking back. Emily Wadds led the Tiger offense, scoring four goals while winning 15 draw controls for the Red and White.

Game Breakdown

After the Tigers slotted the first goal of the day, the Scots with six straight goals to take a 6-1 advantage. Josee Clayton tallied her first goal of the game, putting the second Tiger score on the board. After Wooster increased their lead to 8-2, Gabby Zysik found the back of the net for the first time coming of the Emily Wadds assist. Zysik and Clayton would each score once more just after the clock ran inside of ten minutes left in the first half, as Clayton completed her first-half hat trick, scoring Wittenberg's sixth goal. Wadds added two more goals coming out of the break for the Red and White, while Rachel Bernard found her way into the scoring column, coming off of the Madeline Stock assist. Wadds would find the back of the Wooster cage with just inside five minutes remaining in the game, as the Scots maintained the 20-10 advantage.

Who Stood Out

Bernard forced three Wooster turnovers on the afternoon, picking up six ground balls for the Tigers. Gretchen Burkey added two caused turnovers while picking up three ground balls on the day.

Wittenberg will continue NCAC action, traveling to Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday, April 7 for a 1:00 PM showdown against the Battling Bishops.
