Tigers Topple Mount St. Joseph From The Road

Cincinnati, Ohio – It was a scoring frenzy for the Wittenberg women's lacrosse team, as the Tigers took down the Lions of Mount St. Joseph 18-3 on Wednesday night from the road. Five different Tigers tallied multiple goals on the evening. Josee Clayton paced the Wittenberg offense by converting on all five shots on goal for five scores and adding one assist to her total on the evening. The Red and White jumped out to a 13-2 lead at the break and didn't look back, as the Tiger defense allowed just one MSJ goal in the second half.

Game Breakdown

Gabby Zysik opened up the scoring for the Red and White, capitalizing on the Clayton assist and the MSJ penalty just two minutes into the action. After MSJ put their first goal on the board only two minutes later, Shannon Brown kicked off a Wittenberg scoring streak of 10 straight goals. Clayton tallied a first-half hat trick, scoring four of her five goals in the first half. Gretchen Burkey found the back of the MSJ net on three looks at the goal, capitalizing on the MSJ penalties. Rachel Bernard added the final two Tiger goals of the half, scoring on the free position shot. Madeline Stock opened the scoring for the Tigers in the second half, before Katurah Emery added two goals between Stock's second goal of the half. Allison Ormsby put the final Wittenberg goal in the back of the net, sealing the win for the Red and White.

Who Stood Out

Bernard caused four turnovers winning nine draw controls for the Tigers on the evening and picking up seven groundballs. Burkey also picked up a team-high seven groundballs. Brooklyn Ballenger and Zysik forced two MSJ turnovers each with Ballenger picking up four groundballs and Zysik picking up three.
