Women's Lacrosse Takes Down  Hiram On Senior Day

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's lacrosse rolled to a 16-5 victory over the Terriers of Hiram College on Saturday afternoon. Before the Tigers could celebrate any goals on the field, they first started with outstanding playing careers of their two senior's Victoria Zysik and Sarah Farnsworth. As the game got underway, Wittenberg raced out to a quick 9-1 advantage at the break. Emily Wadds led the Tiger scoring effort with seven goals on eight shots on the day, adding 19 draw control wins for Wittenberg.

 

GAME BREAKDOWN

Wittenberg got the scoring started early, as Wadds found the back of the net less than a minute into the action. With a 7-0 scoring run to start the game, Gabby Zysik and then Rachel Bernard would be the next Tigers to score, before Wadds could score back-to-back goals finishing her hat trick for the first 15 minutes of the game. With Victoria Zysik and then Cassie Kennedy recording a goal in-between Wadds with assists from Bernard. Wadds would finish the first half with five goals. Wittenberg came out full throttle in the second half, as Wadds tallied her sixth goal off of the assist from Gabby Zysik less than a minute into the second half. Bernard scored her second goal of the day, giving Wittenberg the 11-1 lead over Hiram with 28 minutes remaining. After back-to-back Hiram goals, Madeline Stock found Gabby Zysik for another Tiger goal, before Stock could put up a goal of her own with just over 18 minutes remaining. Wittenberg picked up 26 total ground balls with 23 of 24 successful clears on the day.
