Tigers Race Past Hiram As Logan Warye Tops Goals Mark

HIRAM, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers got the offensive machine back in gear at Hiram, scoring the game's first 19 goals en route to a dominating 20-1 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) road victory.

The win moved the Tigers to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC, extending Wittenberg's league regular season winning streak to 25. Hiram fell to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the NCAC.

The first goal of each half was scored by senior Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings). She finished the game with four scores, pushing her season total to 30 goals and her career total to 174. The latter figure broke the school record of 172, previously held by Cara Romanowski, who wore the Red & White from 2000-03.

Warye started the season ranked fourth on the career list with 144 goals. She has passed Kati Robbins '01, Jodi Bennyhoff '90 and Romanowski '03 along the way.

Wittenberg took a commanding 12-0 lead by halftime, and Hiram managed its lone goal with just 2:44 remaining. For the game, Wittenberg held a 38-3 advantage in shots as the Tigers had possession for the majority of the contest.

Hiram managed just seven clears in 27 attempts, as the Tigers were credited with 11 caused turnovers, led by junior Carrie Kubasta (Medina, Ohio/Medina) with three. Wittenberg piled up 36 ground balls in the game, led by freshman Sarah Farnsworth (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate) with seven.

Warye was one of three Tigers with four goals in the game. Sophomore Becca Joseph (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula) contributed four goals and four assists, while senior Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) finished with four goals and one assist. Senior Beth Hubbard (West Hartford, Conn./Notre Dame de Sion (Mo.)) added three goals and freshman Victoria Zysik (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) chipped in with two.

Junior Olivia Lash (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), Farnsworth and sophomore Haley Schroeder (Granville, Ohio/Granville) rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.
