COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Wittenberg women's lacrosse got a two-game spring break swing to Colorado started with a strong first half against Colorado College, but ultimately fell by a score of 23-13 as the hosts tightened up in the second half.

Colorado College, also bearing the Tiger moniker, found its mettle tested through 30 minutes as Wittenberg forced a 9-9 tie heading into halftime. The tie came largely on the offensive efforts of sophomore Becca Joseph (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula) and senior Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings), who combined for seven goals in the first half, and the goalkeeping of junior Katie Reuter (Cleveland, Ohio/Hathaway Brown), who made eight stops in the period.

The visiting Tigers, however, lost the services of Warye after two yellow cards in the first half. An offense missing one of its key pieces slowed down considerably in the second half even as Joseph did her best to pick up the slack, scoring another two goals with one assist to total out at six goals and one assist.

Junior Carrie Kubasta (Medina, Ohio/Medina) finished the game with two goals and team bests of four groundballs, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Senior Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) added a caused turnover, as did junior Sara Ellis (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./Grosse Pointe South), freshman Victoria Zysik (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg), Warye, and sophomore Haley Schroeder (Granville, Ohio/Granville).

Zysik added two groundballs and two draw controls to go with one goal, a scoring total matched by junior Olivia Lash (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights).

The Tigers round out the trip west with a game at Colorado St.-Pueblo, set to begin at 4 p.m. local time and 6 p.m. Eastern.
