SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2014 regular season with a lopsided 23-10 win over visiting Carthage on Sunday afternoon, improving to 13-2 overall.

Carthage scored the first goal and held a 2-1 lead four minutes into the game, but a seven-goal run by Wittenberg set the Tigers up for a big first half and a commanding 16-5 lead at halftime.

With a running clock established, the second half calmed down and saw Wittenberg win the period 7-5.

Senior Alie Marousek (Ballston Lake, NY/Portsmouth (NH)) had an explosive day with six goals and three assists for nine points as she and the three other senior players, including Francine Murzynski (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic), Alex Dressman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) and Mallory Skrobot (Dublin, Ohio/Watterson), were honored in a pregame ceremony.

Murzynski also had a strong senior day outing, scoring four goals with one assist to go with team-bests of seven ground balls, nine draw controls and five caused turnovers.

Dressman and Skrobot led a productive Tiger defense unit, with Skrobot picking up three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Behind Marousek in the scoring column was junior Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings), who scored five goals with two assists, adding three ground balls. Junior Beth Hubbard (West Hartford, Conn./Notre Dame de Sion (Mo.)) had four points on two goals and two assists, while sophomore Olivia Lash (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) scored one goal and assisted twice.
