Nicholle St. Pierre Named New Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg University Director of Athletics and Recreation Gary Williams has announced the hiring of Nicholle St. Pierre as the Tigers’ new women’s lacrosse head coach. She replaces Beth Hemminger, who resigned in May after three years at Wittenberg to become the first-ever women’s lacrosse head coach at Ohio Northern University.

St. Pierre comes to Wittenberg from Philadelphia University, where she has served as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach since August 2012. During her two seasons with the Rams, St. Pierre was involved in all facets of the program, including recruiting, alumni relations, compliance and various on-field coaching duties. Philadelphia University posted records of 14-5 in 2013 and 17-1 in 2014, the best record in program history.

“We are excited to have Nicholle join our coaching staff,” Williams said. “She brings a perfect balance of lacrosse knowledge with care and concern for the well-being of the women she coaches. Nicholle has much to bring as we look to advance our women’s lacrosse program to the next level.”

In addition to her work at Philadelphia University, St. Pierre coached for Quaker City Lacrosse Club in Lower Merion, Pa., in 2013, and Aftershock Lacrosse Club in Collegeville, Pa., in 2011 and 2012. She also has worked a wide variety of lacrosse camps and clinics across several states dating back to 2006.

“I am very excited to join the Wittenberg University coaching staff and to become a Tiger,” St. Pierre said. “I want to thank the Department of Athletics and Wittenberg University for this wonderful opportunity to be part of such a great organization. I look forward to working with the team and coaching staff to build on the successes of Coach Hemminger and bring home more wins and titles in the coming seasons.”

A native of Pottstown, Pa., St. Pierre was a four-year letterwinner as an attacker at Temple University. She appeared in 29 games, including six starting assignments, during her career. St. Pierre earned her bachelor’s degree in speech, language and hearing communication from Temple in 2011.

St. Pierre takes over a Tiger women’s lacrosse program that has been on the rise in recent years, culminating in the first-ever North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) title in 2014. Over the last three years, Wittenberg has a sparkling 38-12 overall record, including a perfect 22-0 in the NCAC regular season. The Tigers have just missed the NCAA Division III Tournament each year, however, following losses in the league tournament.
