WASHINGTON, Pa. – A challenging road trip ended with another encouraging result, as Wittenberg pulled away from host Washington & Jefferson for an 8-5 victory.

The game was played just 24 hours after the Tigers were unable to hang on against perennial powerhouse Stevenson in a 13-10 road defeat. The win moved Wittenberg back above .500 on the season with a 3-2 record, compared to a 2-6 mark for the Presidents.

Unlike the loss to Stevenson, Wittenberg made a halftime lead stand up over the final 30 minutes. They did by coming out strong after the intermission, pushing the lead out to 7-2 before Washington & Jefferson closed the gap over with three of the game's last four goals over the final 17:44.

The Tigers' offense was paced by sophomore Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) and junior Alie Marousek (Ballston Lake, NY/Portsmouth (NH)) with three goals apiece. Junior Francine Murzynski (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) and junior Nicolette Lyons (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) added the other two goals.

Murzynski added an assist and game-highs of five ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls. Senior Kellen Morrissey (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) also filled the stats sheet, finishing with one assist, three ground balls, a draw control and four caused turnovers.

In goal, senior Katie Bondy (Westerville, Ohio/South) continued to do fine work, contributing 11 saves.
