SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team enjoyed a successful return to its home turf at Edwards-Maurer Field with a convincing 18-3 victory over visiting Olivet.

The Tigers, who were coming off a 19-16 Spring Break week loss at Guilford, jumped out to a commanding 13-2 lead by halftime and coasted from there to improve to 2-1 overall on the young season. Olivet was playing the first game of its second season.

Wittenberg held a stunning 33-3 advantage in shots in the game, on top of a 23-10 lead in ground balls and a 20-2 domination of the draw controls category. Almost the entire game was played in Olivet's end of the field, as Wittenberg was forced into a meager three clearance opportunities, of which the Tigers converted twice.

Junior Francine Murzynski (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic), sophomore Megan Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) and sophomore Beth Hubbard (West Hartford, Conn./Notre Dame de Sion (Mo.)) each finished with three goals in the game, while junior Nicolette Lyons (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) added two tallies and six different players contributed one goal. Among the players with a single score in the game was senior Kellen Morrissey (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill), who led the Tigers with three assists and a whopping nine draw controls.

Also of note, sophomore Logan Warye (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) picked up three assists, while Murzynski finished with two assists and four draw controls and junior Alie Marousek (Ballston Lake, NY/Portsmouth (NH)) stuffed the stats sheet with one goal, one assist and five draw controls.

The win provides some much-needed momentum heading into a nine-day lay-off. The Tigers are scheduled to return to action with a challenging road trip to perennial powerhouse Stevenson and Washington & Jefferson.
