Wittenberg Ends Three-Game Losing Streak With Road Win

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team won on Sunday to end a three-game losing streak, defeating Washington & Jefferson by a score of 13-8 and improving to 4-5 on the season.

The win was much needed for the Tigers, who struggled with their last three opponents. Eager to get back on track, the Tigers got out to a fast start as they scored 10 goals in the first half. Washington & Jefferson never recovered and managed just four goals in both periods falling to 2-5 overall.

Leading the Tigers in the offensive third was freshmen Jordan Beauchamp (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scoring a game high four goals. Also were senior Amber Cupples (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and junior Hannah Cupples (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) both scoring two goals apiece.

On the defensive end, Cait Mather (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and Lizzie Amorello (Sutton, Mass./Worcester Academy) both caused three turnovers, while netminder Bonnie Kenney (Lutherville, Md./Park School) totalled nine saves on the day.
