Wittenberg Falls To Ohio Wesleyan

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put on a big push at game's end, but by then they had dug themselves too great a hole in an 18-13 loss to Ohio Wesleyan Saturday at Edwards-Maurer Field.

The Tigers dropped to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Ohio Wesleyan struck early and often in this game, taking a 13-5 lead by halftime. Wittenberg trailed 17-8 before making a final push inside the final 15 minutes, pulling within the final five-point margin thanks to three goals in the final minute of the game against the Battling Bishops' back-up goalie.

Offensively, Wittenberg picked up five goals from senior Jenny Burns, three tallies from sophomore Michelle Hanners, two scores from sophomore Kari Thomas and single goals from junior Emily Hiscar, sophomore Melissa Jackson and freshman Emine Cirpili. Assists were credited to Jackson (2), Hiscar, Hanners and Thomas.
