Women’s Golf Finishes 4th in a Close Battle

Willoughby, OH-The Wittenberg Women's Golf team traveled to Willoughby to compete in the John Carroll University Fall Invitational. The Tigers finished 4th, with the first four teams all separated by only four strokes. The Tigers also finished the weekend with 2 golfers finishing within the top 5. 

As a team, Wittenberg carded a first-round score of 332 (+44) and improved to a second round 327 (+39) for a total of 659 (+83) to secure fourth place out of 12 teams. 

The highest finisher for the Tigers was Ellen Frame, who finished tied for 3rd, shooting a first round 78 (+6) and a second round 81 (+9) to finish with a 159 (+15). 

Right behind Frame was Hillary Humbaugh who carded an 83 (+11) in the first round but improved in the second to card a 78 (+6) and finish tied for 5th with a 161 (+17). 

Izzy Selby also finished in the top 15, tied for 13th at the end of the invite. In the first round she shot an 84 (+12) and improved in the second, shooting an 81 (+9) and finish with a total of 165 (+21). 

Halley McNair was the most consistent performer for the Tigers, carding an 87 (+15) both rounds for a total of 174 (+30), which was good enough to finish in a tie for 24th. 

Rounding out the field for Wittenberg was Anna Longbrake, who shot a 100 (+28) first round, but improved in the second to shoot a 95 (+23) for a total of 195 (+53) and a 42nd place finish. 

Up next-The Tigers will compete in their home invitational next weekend, Sunday October 15th and Monday October 16th at the Springfield Country Club.
