Women’s Golf Wins Second-Straight Laura Bump Invitational Crown

Ostrander, Ohio - For the second year in a row, the Wittenberg University Women's Golf team ran away with the team title at Ohio Wesleyan University's Annual Laura Bump Invitational, played at the par-72, 5,819-yard Mill Creek Golf Club in central Ohio. The Tigers finished the two-day event with a team score of 616 (305-311), which was 30 strokes better than second-place Wooster that finished with a 36-hole score of 646 (318-328).

Individually, the Tigers had three golfers finish in the top-five of the final standings, led by senior Devon Atchison earning the medalist award with a three-over par score of 147, which included a 74 in round one and season-best, 18-hole round score of 73 in Sunday's final round. Junior teammate Madi Wolters finished five strokes behind Atchison in second with a two-day total of 152 (73-79), while senior Matison Leand finished alone in fifth with a 157 (78-79). 

Wittenberg's final two scoring golfers also finished inside the top-15 out of 43 total golfers, led by sophomore Erin Adams tying for sixth with a 160 after carding identical rounds of 80 over the two-day event. Finally, junior Megan Selby placed 12th overall in the final individual standings with a combined score of 166 (82-84). 

In addition, Wittenberg had a pair of golfers compete as individuals in the 43-golfer field, with sophomore Jordan Jarrett finishing 15th overall with a 169 (82-87) and classmate Karly Egbers withdraw from the field after posting a score of 83 in Saturday's opening round. 

The Tigers will now return to the course next weekend against some of the region's top teams, competing at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois.
