Wittenberg Women's Golf Battles At NCAA National Preview

Houston, Tx. – The Wittenberg women's golf team traveled to Houston for the 2018 NCAA National Preview, finishing 11th amongst the field of the top 18 teams amongst the NCAA Div. III field. The NCAA Preview was held at the Bay Oaks Country Club, as the Tigers took on the 5871-yard, par 72 course over two days of competition. The invite-only event also featured NCAC rival DePauw. 

Senior Devon Atchison would lead the way for the Tigers, finishing with a two-day total of 160. Atchison would be the top Tiger finisher coming in a tie for 24th, closing out the first day with an 86 (+14). The Pataskala native would find her groove on the second day, closing out with a final round score of 74 (+2), stringing together five pars' in a row over through the back nine. 

Madi Wolters was the next highest Wittenberg finisher coming in at a tie for 37th, shooting a two-day total score of 163. Wolters would post a first-day score of 86 (+14), coming back with a strong day-two final score of 77 (+5). Wolters would find her stride coming into the back-nine, starting with a birdie on ten and following up with four straight pars'.

Kelli Fisher (T64) and Matison Leand (T66) would finish their NCAA Preview, each posting final day scores of 85 (+13).  Fisher would record an opening round score of 14 over par, coming into the clubhouse at 86. Leand would follow close behind on day one with an 87 after the first round. Erin Adams would round out the Tiger finishers with a two-day total of 183, placing 90th overall respectively. 

Wittenberg will return to action on when they host their annual Pat Clouse Invitational from the Springfield Country Club on Oct. 6-7.
