Tigers Take Third at Ashland Invitational

ASHLAND, Ohio—Wittenberg women's golf finished in third place at the 2018 Ashland Invitational over the weekend, as the tournament was cut to one round due to Sunday's inclement weather. Desipte the altered format, Wittenberg managed to take third place behind NCAA Division II schools Tiffin and Grand Valley State. The Tigers fired a 323 (+35) as a team, as Tiffin carded a 312 (+24) and Grand Valley State a 293 (+5).

"Disappointed the weather didn't cooperate for the second day but really proud of our efforts this weekend. I thought we did some really-good things and showed well in a D2 field. Looking forward to seeing how we can build on this next week at UIS," said Head Coach Michael Leotta.

Jane Hopkinson-Wood finished all-alone in seventh place for the Tigers on Saturday, as the senior carded a round of 76 (+4). Hopkinson-Wood finished three strokes off the lead, as Katie Chipman of Grand Valley carded a 73 (+1) on Saturday.

Matison Leand also finished in the top-20 for Wittenberg, firing an 80 (+8) on Saturday, good enough for T20.

Wittenberg is back in action next weekend at the University of Illinois-Springfield Spring Invitational at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois.
