HOUSTON, Texas - The Wittenberg Tigers were among nine teams still on the course at Bay Oaks Country Club competing in the final round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Tournament when the horn sounded to signal inclement weather in the area, suspending play. Action never resumed, and the results at the conclusion of the third round were declared final.

As a result, Wittenberg was awarded a share of third place, 16 strokes off the pace set by Rhodes, which won its second national championship in the last three years with a total of 904 strokes over three rounds. Texas-Tyler finished second at 919, followed by George Fox and Wittenberg at 920, and defending national champion Williams in fifth place at 933.

The Tigers were playing well in the final round, posting a team score seven strokes over par as they headed onto the back nine in sole possession of third place. However, Rhodes was pulling away, making the turn at a phenomenal four-under-par for the round and more than 20 strokes clear of any challengers.

Rhodes wound up with a tournament record three-round score of 904 after the Lynx broke the record for single round team scoring on Thursday with a six-over-par total of 294.

Caroline Ordian of Redlands won the individual medalist award with a three-round total of four-over-par 218. Tiger junior Macy Hubbard (Mason, Ohio/Mason) placed second for a second consecutive year, this time missing out on the top spot by just one stroke with a total of 219.

Senior Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) finished 11th with a score of 228, followed by sophomore Jane Hopkinson-Wood (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) in 18th at 232. Freshman Chloe Bradburn (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus Academy) was next for Wittenberg in 57th at 245 and senior Allie Lawwill (Springboro, Ohio/Middletown) rounded out the scoring for the Tigers in 77th with a 256.
