WOOSTER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers maintained their torrid pace in the early going of the 2015-16 season, cruising to a 29-stroke victory in the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational, hosted by Wooster as a preview of one of the two 2016 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Series events.

Wittenberg remained perfect through the first four tournaments of the 2015-16 season thanks to rounds of 331 and 316. The opening round was played in adverse weather conditions, including unseasonably cold temperatures, cold northerly winds and intermittent rain, but the Tigers still held a 12-stroke lead that expanded significantly on Sunday.

DePauw was the runner-up in the nine-team field with a two-round score of 676, followed by host Wooster at 711.

Individually, Wittenberg boasted of its third different medalist in four tournaments in 2015-16 as senior Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) stepped into the winner's circle for the first time in her collegiate career. Smith carded matching rounds of 77 over the two days to win by four strokes over junior teammate Macy Hubbard (Mason, Ohio/Mason).

Sophomore Jane Hopkinson-Wood (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) was next for Wittenberg with a two-round total of 167, followed by senior Allie Lawwill (Springboro, Ohio/Middletown) with a 171 to finish eighth and freshman Chloe Bradburn (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus Academy) with a 172 to finish ninth in the 58-player field.

Two other Tigers were entered as individuals. Sophomore Brianna Yee (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) finished 17th with a score of 175 and freshman Devon Atchison (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) rounded things out in 23rd place with a score of 181.

The Tigers will put the finishing touches on the fall portion of the 2015-16 season by hosting the Pat Clouse Invitational at Springfield Country Club Oct. 10-11.
