HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers posted a solid number early on Day 2 of the 2015 NCAA Division III Tournament and then watched the leaderboard. By the end of the round, Wittenberg had settled in right where they had started the day, in fourth place out of 21 teams in the field.

Wittenberg posted a second round score of 327 to reach the halfway point of the competition with a score of 650. Washington University leads the way with a two-day total of 638, followed by Williams at 641, Redlands at 647 and Wittenberg. Texas-Tyler and Carleton are tied for fifth with matching scores of 654, putting them 13 strokes ahead of defending champion Rhodes in seventh.

"The golf course continues to be the story as it is a real solid test of golf for the players in this tournament," said Head Coach Jeff Roope. "I thought our players really fought hard to post a number that would keep them in the hunt."

Sophomore Macy Hubbard (Mason, Ohio/Mason) led the way for a second straight day, posting a round of 80 to stand eighth in the 110-player field with a two-day total of 158. Junior Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) is also in the top-20 individually, checking in with a two-round score of 161 to stand 13th overall.

Senior Nicole Waers (Canton, Ohio/Perry) is next for Wittenberg with a 164, good for 25th place. Freshman Jane Hopkinson-Wood (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) has a 167 to stand 39th and junior Allie Lawwill (Springboro, Ohio/Middletown) checks in with a 188 and in 88th position overall.

After getting an early start in Round 2, Wittenberg's players will be able to sleep in and then hit the range before their third round tee times. The Tigers will start play at 12:15 p.m.
