Wittenberg Claims Fourth Place At DePauw Katman Klassic

DANVILLE, Ind. — The Wittenberg Tigers turned in a pair of solid rounds to finish fourth in the nine-team DePauw Katman Klassic. 

The Tigers shot a two-day total of 654, seven strokes out of the medals as fifth-ranked Washington University finished at 647. No. 1-ranked DePauw defended its home turf with a 612 to easily take the top spot, 34 strokes ahead of second-place Olivet, the 21st-ranked team in the nation. Wittenberg did finish ahead of 11th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan in the stacked field.

Individually, the Tigers boasted of two top-10 finishers. Freshman Mary Eighmy (Erie, Pa./McDowell) placed eighth with matching rounds of 80 for a two-day total of 160. She was followed closely by junior Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula), who was nearly as consistent with an 80 and an 81 in the two rounds, good for a 161 and ninth place.

Freshman Deanna Mychalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) followed in 19th place with a 165, including a collegiate-best 80 on Day 2. Junior Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) rounded out the Tigers' scorers with a 168 on the course at the par-72, 5,814-yard Twin Bridges Golf Club. She placed 23rd.
