Wittenberg Finishes Fifth In Season-Opening Baldwin-Wallace Invitational

BEREA, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers kicked off the 2007-08 women's golf season with a very respectable finish at Baldwin-Wallace's Yellow Jacket Fall Invitational. 

Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Jeff Roope, the Tigers fielded a new-look lineup and lowered the school record team score by 10. The Tigers' 366 on the Par 72 course bettered the 376 posted by the 2006-07 squad in the season finale at Wilmington's Majestic Springs Course.

A pair of newcomers were difference-makers as freshmanSara Mewhort (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) shot a 92 to finish 21st and freshmanAnna Bencriscutto (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) added a 94 to finish 27th. The top Tiger finish was turned in by junior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) as she posted a round of 87.

Also scoring for Wittenberg was sophomore Kimberleigh McClure (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto), who made the loop in 93.
