Wittenberg Women's Basketball Head Coach Melissa Kolbe announced the addition of Sam MacKay as an assistant coach prior to the 2023-24 school year.

“I am excited to introduce Samantha MacKay as the newest addition to our women’s basketball staff," Kolbe said. "From her winning championships during her playing days at the University of Dayton to her extensive experience playing professionally in some of the top leagues in Europe, Sam brings a phenomenal pedigree to this program. She is a relationship-builder and will be a great mentor for our players.”

Prior to joining the Wittenberg coaching staff, MacKay put together a professional career that spanned nine seasons and included stops in Hungary, France, Estonia, Greece, Slovakia, and Portugal, as well as the WNBA training camp, Euroleague, and Euro Cup.

In four seasons as a student-athlete at Dayton from 2009-13, MacKay appeared in 115 games and earned third-team All-Atlantic 10 honors as a senior. She ranks fifth in program history in assist-to-turnover ratio and 15th in career assists. MacKay graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. A native of Dublin, Ohio, she was a McDonald’s All-America nominee coming out of Dublin Coffman High School.

“I am very excited to join the Wittenberg Women’s Basketball Program. I look forward to continuing to build on its successful tradition and can’t wait to get to work winning Championships,” MacKay said. “I would like to thank Melissa Kolbe, Vice President & Director of Athletics Brian Agler, and President Frandsen for this opportunity. Tiger Up!”
