After her second offseason knee injury in as many years, Rachel Dixon is turning her considerable energy to a student assistant coaching role. The Tigers' top freshman in 2005-06, Dixon hopes to return to the court as a player in 2008-09.
Dixon, a graduate of nearby West Liberty-Salem High School, appeared in 27 games in 2005-06, starting one. She averaged 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game that season.
Dixon is an early childhood education/special education major at Wittenberg. She is a member of Delta Gamma sorority, a team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a tour guide for the university Office of Admission, where she served as a summer intern in 2007. While sitting out the 2006-07 season, Dixon also helped former coach Pam Smith and her staff in a variety of roles.
