Springfield, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's basketball was shorthanded due to injuries and had to work overtime, but at the final horn the Tigers had gutted out a clutch 71-62 victory over visiting Oberlin.

The win moved the Tigers to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), one-half game behind DePauw. Oberlin fell to 12-6 overall and 3-4 in the league.

Wittenberg was playing without multiple players due to injuries, and as result all five starters played at least 33 minutes in the game. They responded with several season-best statistical performances, led by senior Evie Wolshire (Lancaster, OH / Fairfield Union) with her first double-double of the season. Wolshire posted season-highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds, with all 18 of her points coming on three-pointers. Her six triples were just two short of the school record set by Michelle Pothast in 1997.

The Tigers' scoring leader was Jazmyn Gaines-Burns (Bladensburg, MD / Elizabeth Seton) with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds, six of which came at the offensive end. Jade Simpson (Edgewood, KY / Holy Cross) added 10 rebounds, including six at the offensive end as well.

Also of note was the play of Taryn Cash (Cincinnati, OH / Princeton) with 15 points and eight assists. She became just the 11th player in program history to surpass 200 career assists.

Neither team shot well from the field, but Wittenberg made six more three-pointers in the game and nine more free throws. The other key was rebounding as the Tigers held a commanding 46-37 advantage.
