Tigers Drop After Final Quarter Effort in Greencastle

Greencastle, IN- Wittenberg headed to Greencastle, IN to take on their fellow Tigers in conference play for the second time this season. Prior in the season Wittenberg took on DePauw with a 64-53 win and looked to add one more to their 6-0 conference record.

The Tigers shot 43.8% from the field, 20.0% in three points, and 73.7% from the line going 14-19. Wittenberg was able to put 58 points on the board being led by guard Jazmyn Gaines-Burns with 16 points followed by Molly Scott with 14 points. Defensively, Wittenberg was led by Taryn Cash with five rebounds and two blocks.  

Wittenberg struggled in the first quarter starting behind with 10 points compared to DePauw's 25. The Tigers were able to add 13 in the second half to give them 23 points at the half but went into the locker room behind with a 34-23 score. Jazmyn Gaines-Burns led Wittenberg at the half with eight points followed by Molly Scott with six. Coming out of the locker room Wittenberg added 17 points to their total and were able to outscore DePauw in the fourth quarter of play, putting up 18 points compared to their 15. Despite a last quarter effort Wittenberg fell with a final score of 68-58.

Prior to tonight's match-up, Wittenberg was able to go on a remarkable ten game win streak, including six conference wins. The Tigers will continue to see conference play with a 6-1 record in the NCAC going 13-4 overall.
