Winning Streak Ends in Delaware, OH

Delaware, OH- Wittenberg hit the road for their fifth conference match-up of the 2021-22 season. The Tigers took on the Battling Bishop of Ohio Wesleyan for the 85th time in program history with the Red & White leading the series. Despite having an upper hand in the past, Wittenberg fell with a score of 82-58.

The Tigers were led by Delaney Williams, Abigail Yunker, Kristie Kalis, Jade Simpson, and Kelsey Ragan on the court as Wittenberg's starting five. The starting line-up accumulated a total of 42 points, 26 rebounds, and an overall shooting percentage of 38.2%. As a team, Wittenberg was able to control the game in three-point percentage, free-throw percentage, and assists.

Senior, Kristie Kalis was able to get things started for Wittenberg with a good three-point shot. Wittenberg was able to get eleven more points up in the first quarter but were outscored and headed into the second down by 10. The Red & White were able to bounce back in the second quarter, putting up eighteen points compared to OWU's 19. The Tigers headed into the half with a score of 43-32, trailing by eleven. The second quarter proved to be Wittenberg's best scoring, only putting up 15 points in the third and 11 in the fourth for a final score of 82-58.

Prior to tonight's match-up, Wittenberg has averaged 66.6 points per game, going 39.3% from the field, 29.2% in three-point percentage, and 68.2% from the line. Wittenberg was able to surpass their season average in three-point percentage and free-throw percentage. The Tigers went 35% in three-points, and 70% from the line to improve their season average.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers had ten different individuals score, being led by Kristie Kalis and Jade Smipson offensively with a combined 28 points, going 54.5% from the line and 44.4% in the field. Defensively, Jade Simpson led the way picking up ten rebounds.

NCAC Leaders- Five Tigers continue to sit in the top ten in the NCAC for statistics. Abigail Yunker sits at number eight for points in the NCAC with 180. Just outside the top ten is Kalis with 168 points. Yunker also sits in the top ten in the conference for field goal percentage at number nine with a season average of 46.4%. Kalis and Yunker are in the top ten for three-points made this season with Kalis leading the way at number three, while Yunker sits at eight. Despite being number eight, Yunker lands at number one in three-point percentage in the conference with an average of 50% while Kelsey Ragan lands at number seven with 36.7%. Yunker also lands at number one for free-throw percentage, being put on the line 36 times this season for an average of 86.1%. On the ball control side, Jade Simpson lands at number two in the conference for rebounds with 124; 80 being defensive and 44 being offensive. Delaney Williams sits at number four for assists on the season with 58 and number nine in steals with 25 on the season.
