Tigers Triumph Over Lions

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg met Mount St. Joseph on the court for the twenty-fourth time in program history. After a loss to the Lions last season the Tigers looked to get back on their winning streak in the series. The Tigers came off of two loses before defeating the Lions of Mount St. Joseph with a score of 67 to 30. Prior to the game Wittenberg had more points per game, averaging 57.3 compared to Mount St. Josephs 50.7. The Tigers also had a higher field goal percentage (36%), free throw percentage (70%), and more assists per game averaging 13.

Riley Culver was able to get things started for the night, putting two on the board after tip off. The Tigers kept coming and Korynne Berner was able to push the pace in the first quarter with back to back shots after a steal to bring the Tigers up 17-4 going into the second. Wittenberg continued to hammer the Lions, putting up twenty points to going into the half up 37-11. The third quarter only pulled the Tigers farther ahead with eighteen more points and only allowing eight points. Wittenberg held Mount St. Joseph to eleven points in the fourth quarter and ended the game up by thirty-seven points. Wittenberg ended the night with a 47.4 FG%, 37.5 3PT%, 77.8 FT%, and 7 steals. The Tigers improve their record to 3-2.

Key Players: Wittenberg typically looks for Riley Culver who is number five in the NCAC for rebounds, however tonight Nora Hopkins and Kristie Kalis held it down for Tiger defense with 10 total defensive rebounds. While Abigail Yunker kept the ball in Wittenberg hands with 4 offensive rebounds.

Head Coach Kelly Mahlum said "we shot the ball really well tonight, we stayed focus and keeping that focus is a good thing… we were able to shoot the ball from the fifteen foot range."

Up Next: The Tigers will be back in action Saturday, November 30th at 2 PM. The ladies will be travelling to Granville, OH to face off against the Big Red of Denison.
