Women Dominate PSU-Behrend Tournament

Erie, PA- Wittenberg continued their winning streak in Erie, defeating PSU-Behrend in a nail biter 65-60.  The Tigers faced off against Heidelberg for their first game of the tournament defeating them 59-48 to put them in the championship game.

Abigail Yunker was able to get things started for the Tigers after receiving a defensive rebound from Riley Culver with 9:10 left in the first quarter. Wittenberg increased their lead by seven going into the second quarter with all of the starting five contributing. The Tigers remained up going into the half 28-23. A tough third quarter allowed PSU-Behrend to tie up the game but luckily for the Tigers Kristie Kalis continued to dominate on defense rebounding to keep Wittenberg alive. PSU-Behrend continued to close the gap but unable to beat out Wittenberg in points in the fourth quarter leading to a win for the Tigers. Wittenberg ended the night with an 86.4 FT%, 40 FG% and 33 total rebounds.

Key Players: Kristie Kalis led the team in total rebounds with eight defensive and three offensive rebounds and a total of 18 points, Delaney Williams posted 17 points and 5 assists for the Tigers. Samantha Watts helped out the tigers with 10 points and had an 80 FT% on the night to keep Wittenberg ahead.

Head Coach, Kelly Mahlum said "we had to fight for it and we did it. Proud of our grit we showed on the road to win the tournament." The Tigers will look to bring this grit and momentum into their next game on the 19th.
