Wittenberg Women's Hoops Takes Down No. 16 DePauw

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team took down NCAC rival and nationally-ranked No. 16 DePauw University, 65-61 at Pam Evans Smith Arena on Wednesday evening. The two sides battled back and forth as the held a narrow 30-28 lead heading into the intermission. Senior Alex Kiess led the Wittenberg scoring effort on the night with 16 points, while Kristie Kalis followed close behind logging a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Wittenberg hands DePauw their first NCAC loss of the season, as the Red and White move to 12-7 on the season and 6-4 in NCAC action.

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg stormed out of the break outscoring DePauw 20-12 in the third quarter. Freshman McKenna Baker tallied her only points of the game in the third quarter for the Red and White. Baker scored six points and picked up a steal for Wittenberg on their way to overtaking the lead from DePauw in a big momentum shift that swung the Wittenberg way ending the third quarter at 48-42. Wittenberg fended off a late DePauw attack in the fourth quarter. Scoring six points each Delaney Williams and Kalis combined for 12 of the final 17 Wittenberg points in the fourth quarter.

Who Stood Out

Wiliams finished the night with 12 points, six assists, and two rebounds. Riley Culver posted six points, pulling down five rebounds and blocking three shots.
