Springfield, Ohio – With several Wittenberg alums from the past in attendance at Pam Evans Smith Arena on Saturday afternoon for Alumni Day, the Tiger women's basketball team rolled to a convincing 84-58 victory over league-rival Wooster. With the win, the Tigers improved to 10-6 overall and jumped back above the .500 mark in NCAC play at 4-3. At the midway point of the conference slate, the Tigers are one of four teams with three losses in the NCAC women's basketball standings, trailing only league-leading DePauw and its 8-0 mark in league play.
How It Happened
The Tigers trailed briefly early on as Wooster scored the first four points of the game, but the Tigers proceeded to score 16 of the next 19 points in the game to take a 16-7 lead at the 4:45 mark on a three-pointer from sophomore Kristie Kalis. The Tigers never looked back from that point on, leading 29-16 after the first quarter of play and building a 55-27 lead at halftime.
Wittenberg maintained a 30-point lead throughout the majority of the third quarter, which included increasing the margin to 34-points at 74-30 with 2:01 left in the quarter on a layup from sophomore Abigail Yunker.
The Tigers continued to mount the pressure in the final frame to put the closing touches on the ()-point win over the Fighting Scots.

Six different Wittenberg players scored in double figures in the win, led by Kalis leading the way with 14 points and nine rebounds after shooting 5-of-6 from the field, 1-of-2 from three-point range and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Also scoring in double figures for the Tigers was senior Alex Kiess with 13, senior Sydney Mayle with 12, Yunker with 11 and the duo of junior Riley Culver and freshman McKenna Baker with 10 each. Junior Korynne Berner and Kalis shared the team lead in rebounds with nine each, while Baker finished the game with a stat line of 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Wooster had a pair of players score in double figures, led by Anna Gibbs with 15 points and three assists.
In the breakdown of the two teams, Wittenberg held a commanding 52-32 edge in rebounds and also dished out 18 assists compared to just nine for the Scots. The Tigers, who got half of their scoring production from bench players, shot 45 percent (29-of-64) from the field, 32 percent (6-of-19) from long distance and 72 percent (18-of-25) from the free throw line.
