Women's Hoops Set To Host Hiram in Opening Round of NCAC Tournament

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team finished off the 2017-18 season winning five of their final six games, including taking their final two games of the season. With a win over Wooster on Senior Day 78-63, Wittenberg secured their 29 consecutive NCAC Tournament appearance. The Tiger's wrapped up with an overall record of 14-11 and 9-7 in North Coast Athletic Conference action. Wittenberg closes out the season in the fourth spot and will get to host their opening round game for the NCAC Tournament. The Tiger's will host the Terriers of Hiram College (11-14, 7-9 NCAC) on Tuesday, February 20 at 6:00 PM from Pam Evans Smith Arena.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The NCAC Coaches' Poll had the Tigers tabbed to finish fifth in the pre-season poll.
  • Wittenberg currently holds a 22-6 record in quarterfinal games. They picked up their last NCAC Tournament quarterfinal win defeating Kenyon in 2014-15, 67-60.
  • Wittenberg averages 65 points per game on 38 percent shooting from the field, pulling down nearly 40 rebounds as a unit per contest with 12 assists per game as a team.
  • The Tigers have won both meetings against the Terriers this season. First with a 78-66 home win in December, followed with a narrow 66-64 road win recently in February.
  • Wittenberg has held opponents to 61 points per game on just 36 percent shooting from the field.
  • Delaney Williams and Sydney Mayle lead the Wittenberg offense with 10 points per game, following close behind with nine points per contest are Alex Kiess and Kristie Kalis.
  • Kalis adds an average of six rebounds per game, with Haley Dannemiller averaging five boards a game for the Tigers.

 

Per conference policy, there is an admission fee to attend the game. Adults are $7 dollars while NCAC guest pass holders, children, and students without a valid ID from an NCAC institution are $5 dollars. All students from an NCAC school are free with a valid ID.
