Delaware, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team jumped out to another fast start, taking down the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan 73-57. Wittenberg took a 40-24 lead into the break, converting on 58 percent of their attempts from the field through the first half. The Tigers would finish with three in double figures as Alex Kiess, Sydney Mayle and Amanda Raber would each post 15 points apiece. Kiess tallied 11 of her total in the first half. The junior guard knocked down four of eight looks from the floor and dished out one assist in the first half. Wittenberg held the Battling Bishops to just 33 percent shooting from the field, allowing just two of their ten attempts from beyond the arc to fall.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Wittenberg kept the Battling Bishops to just seven points in the second quarter of action. Mayle was the second double-digit scorer in the first half, posting 10 points in the first 20 minutes. Mayle finished would record six boards and two assists on her way to a 15-point effort. The Tigers could not be slowed down coming out of the break, outscoring Ohio Wesleyan in the third quarter 15-14. Raber came on strong in the second half, posting 13 of her 15 points, hauling in four of her six total rebounds, while giving out two assists on the night. Korynne Berner led the rebounding effort through the first half, pulling down five boards. Berner would add four rebounds and six points, along with two assists to her final total on the night. Freshman Delaney Williams served up seven assists while scoring nine points on four of seven from the floor. The guard added three steals on the night.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Wittenberg converted on 31 of 63 attempts from the floor on the night. The Tigers made 41 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc. Cleaning up inside, Wittenberg won the rebounding battle 39-35. The Tigers forced 16 Ohio Wesleyan turnovers and were able to capitalize and score 25 points at the other end. The depth from the bench continues to help Wittenberg, as it provided 22 points on the evening for the Tigers.

FROM THE BENCH: "This was a great team win on the road. We did a great job on the defensive end of the floor which helped us gain confidence on offense," said Coach Mahlum "This was one of our best shooting nights all season. Amanda had another great performance off the bench and Alex and Sydney played well on both ends of the floor."

UP NEXT: Wittenberg will travel to DePauw next Wednesday, January 24 to take on #9 DePauw. Tip-off is set for 7:30 P.M from Greencastle, Ind.
